the Author
Janet Bond Brill was born and raised in New York City, the daughter
of a prominent stage and screen actor and a psychoanalyst. At the
age of 16, she graduated Walden School in Manhattan and enrolled
at the University of Miami. After earning her B.S. in Biology she
took a break from academia and traveled the world, working as a
flight attendant for Pan American World Airways.
Returning to South Florida, she earned both her
doctoral degree and master’s
degree in exercise physiology from the University of Miami, in addition to a
second master’s degree in nutrition science from Florida International
University, graduating both universities with academic honors.
Dr. Brill has been a nutritionist in private practice
for many years, specializing in cardiovascular disease prevention.
She also maintains a private nutrition consulting practice with
such clients as Proctor & Gamble and The Sports Club LA-Miami,
a luxury fitness center located in downtown Miami. Dr. Brill
is a registered and licensed
dietitian,
certified personal trainer, wellness coach and adjunct faculty at the University
of Miami and Florida International University where she teaches
both graduate and undergraduate classes
in exercise physiology, sports nutrition and wellness. Her research on the
cholesterol-lowering effects of her healthy lifestyle program has been published
in the International
Journal of Obesity. She has also published her scientific research in the
International Journal of Sport Nutrition as well as authored
articles on health and fitness
for the popular press.
Dr. Brill currently resides in South Florida and
enjoys an active lifestyle, practicing what she preaches, having
completed four marathons and countless
road races. She enjoys spending free time with her husband, three children,
and her
golden retriever, Simba.
